For the period between 1703 and 1918 Moscow was not a capital but was always a heart of the State. That is why the main aim of Napoleon's invasion was to conquer Moscow but not the capital Saint-Petersburg. The city gained the status of a capital again in 1918. Since then Moscow political, business and cultural centre of Russia .
The cote of arms of Moscow is Saint George. This is due to the fact that Moscow was founded by the duke Yury Dolgorukiy. And the Christian name of Yury is Gearge.
